35 yr old Recommendation: This is a nice short canyon and an easy walk. If you can, camp at the National beach. Camping here gives you lots of time to enjoy the canyon.

Hike up National Canyon in Grand Canyon national park, Arizona.

If you are looking for a nice camp with a built in hike, I'd recommend National canyon. Heading back into the canyon from the beach reveals some very nice narrows and seasonal water. About 0.5 miles back into the canyon are the best narrows. If you're in the swimming mood, you can get by the first obstacle with a bit of swimming and bouldering. Afterwards is prettier, with limestone narrows and a waterfall, but I couldn't get anyone to join me on a cold afternoon.
