Hiking in North Canyon in Grand Canyon national park, Arizona.

From either the upper or lower campsites at North canyon, look West towards the canyon. On the right slope, you will see a trail heading up the side of the canyon. This trail gets you around an otherwise impassable fall. The trail levels off and the remainder of the hike is on the flat Supai sandstone.

The sandstone is the star of this hike. The layering of the rock in the narrow confines of the canyon make for a unique setting. Soon, progress is blocked by a wide pool and a pour off. We turned around here, having been unable to convince anyone in our party to wade through the fetid pool to see what was up the canyon.
