To get to the trailhead: from the Phoenix/Mesa area, take HWY-101 North to the Pima Road exit. Take Pima road North to Cave Creek Road. Turn East (Right) on Cave Creek Road. Soon, there will be a Tonto National Forest sign on the right (This is about 6 miles from Carefree). From this point, this road becomes FR 24. Continue straight on this road while keeping an eye on the mile markers on the right side of the road. Once you pass mile marker 9, drive another 0.6 miles and turn right onto unsigned paved road FR562 (there is a sign about 30 yards up the road). After this turn, park at any convenient location with a pullout. ]]></c:value>

To get to the trailhead: from the Phoenix area, take US-60 East toward Globe. Once in Globe, turn right on Hill street, just past mile post 251. Please watch your speed in this area, as it is a residential area. Follow the Tonto Forest signs 1.2 miles and turn right onto Icehouse road. This soon becomes FR112. Drive 1.8 miles to a stop sign. Drive another 2 miles to the end of the pavement. Drive 0.5 more miles to the CCC picnic area and trailhead and turn left to park. The dirt road is in very good shape and passenger cars are no problem. The trailhead has a restroom, but no water.]]></c:value>

To get to the trailhead: from the Phoenix area, take US-60 East toward Globe/Miami. Once you reach the town outskirts of Miami, drive into town. Within the first mile you will see a stoplight for Adonis Street. Turn right onto Adonis Street. Keep going straight on Adonis Street past Prospect Avenue. Adonis Street will soon appear to dead end, but if you look over your left shoulder, you will see the road continue. Make a hairpin turn to the left and continue up. You will soon reach a five road intersection. You want to continue straight on the only road that is not signed (so don't take Sunset Street). You will know you are on the correct road if you continue on your upward direction. The road will turn to dirt after passing Maquey Street. The dirt road is in very good shape and passenger cars are no problem. Continue up the dirt road (FR906, also known as Cherry Flats Road). There are two main forks on this road before you reach the trailhead. Turn right at both forks. Again, you will know you took the correct fork if you continue going up. After 4.1 miles from US-60 you will reach another fork in the road with two signs. One sign reads "Warnica Springs Group Reservation Area". The other sign is located on the left fork and reads "primitive road-unsuited for public use". Park your car at the small pullout to the right of this fork. Start hiking up the left fork (the one with the "primitive road" sign). This road services the transmission towers at the top of Madera Peak, so it may or may not be closed. Hiking is OK, so if the gate is closed it is OK to go through the gate.]]></c:value>

To get to the Trailhead: From the Phoenix area, take US-60 East toward the town of Superior. Between mile markers 221 and 222, turn right on FR231 (a windmill marks the road on the right) and is also called Uno Trail. If you get to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum, you've gone too far. Take FR231 0.3 miles to a T intersection. Turn left onto FR310 (also known as Saddleridge trail). The signed Arizona Trailhead is 0.6 miles from this point. There is plenty of parking and pit toilets. ]]></c:value>
