Mile 220 canyon is located at river mile 220 on river right. Be Aware of: boulder hopping. This is an easy hike. 35 yr old Recommendation: Since it's likely your last camping day in the river, it is nice to hike one more time before heading back to civilization. There are some interesting rock formations to study while you enjoy the solitude of this area. Elevation change: 100 ft gradual gain. Distance: 2.0 miles round trip (our turn around point was arbitrary) Time: It took us about 1.0 hours total. Time of year: Spring, Winter, Fall. Solitude: Our solitude was excellent, although mile 220 is a popular last day camp. Map: Click here for map It's likely your last evening in the Colorado River, so why not enjoy it by taking a hike to some interesting smoothed conglomerate bedrock. This is mostly a boulder hopping hike up some narrows. We turned around when the canyon started to open back up, but the turn around point is pretty arbitrary. Try to stay focused on the enjoyment of walking through this rocky, narrow canyon instead of returning to civilization tomorrow.
